Homeopathic GPs attend Foundation for Integrated Health conference at St James’ Palace
The Foundation for Integrated Health (FIH) held a conference on 12 October, hosted by Prince Charles at St James' Palace, to launch its new GP Associates initiative, which aims to integrate complementary therapies into GPs' surgeries. Some 120 GPs attended, each representing one of the "big five" complementary therapies, namely homeopathy, acupuncture, herbalism, osteopathy and chiropractic.
The Faculty of Homeopathy was strongly represented, with 12 members present, several of whom had been invited to speak, notably Dr Roy Welford of the Glastonbury Health Centre and Dr Andrew Demetriou from Huntley Mount Medical Centre, Bury. |

Dr David Reilly from Glasgow Homoeopathic Hospital described his vision of an integrated NHS and Dr Tim Robinson from Dorset gave the GP perspective, outlining the benefits of integrated medicine for patients, practices and GPs. The formidable line-up of speakers also included Peter Hain, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Michael Dixon, Chairman of the NHS Alliance, Caroline Flint, Public Health Minister, Harry Cayton, Department of Health and of course the Prince of Wales who gave a passionate speech about the formation of the Foundation and his vision of integrated health.
